Caldwell Real Estate, Amenities & More

Caldwell real estate is set within the county seat and agricultural hub of Canyon County.  Given its deep agricultural roots, it's no surprise to learn that Caldwell is home to seven international seed companies, grows over 140 varieties of crops and is a significant contributor to national dairy and beef markets.

Caldwell's Wine Industry

bitner winery in caldwell idahoCaldwell proudly calls itself the gateway to the Snake River Valley wine region.  The roots of Idaho's wine industry go back to 1864 in Northern Idaho when it was reported in the Idaho Statesman that a vineyard of Royal Muscadine cuttings had been planted and they had successfully survived the winter, and in fact the northern Idaho vineyard was even producing grapes.

For all intents and purposes, the Prohibition era decimated Northern Idaho's wine business until the 1970's when Idaho's first American Viticulture Area was approved.  Wine grape crops made a resurgence in the state, supported by the fertile soil, favorable topography and the moderate climate of the Snake River Valley.  It did not take long for the area surrounding Caldwell real estate to become the heir to Idaho's wine industry.  This area now claims 8000 square miles of vineyards which have comparable latitudes to other world renowned wine regions around the globe.

No matter which Caldwell homes for sale you are interested in, you are sure to enjoy convenient access to a number of great local schools.  To meet the diverse needs of its residents, several educational providers are located in Caldwell. Heritage Community Charter School provides a classical liberal arts education with an emphasis in dual language immersion programs.

Revitalizing Caldwell Real Estate  Community College Suspended Bridge Caldwell Idaho

In recent years a huge effort has been made to restore Caldwell real estate to glory. The city of Caldwell completed a downtown revitalization project in 2009 that was second to none.  The project included the restoration of Indian Creek, that was previously buried over for decades. Indian Creek now winds gently around portions of the downtown area offering a treat to your senses at every turn.  As you walk along the creek you will find regional sculptures, a fanciful water wheel, a suspended bridge, picnic tables and a multitude of grassy park areas to congregate and enjoy over 200 days of Idaho sunshine.

The retirement of the historic train depot downtown is considered to be the beginning of revitalizing the downtown core.  Today the refurbished building includes  an interactive and playful fountain, front and center, that welcomes kids of all ages to run through.  This historic building now offers a venue for both private and civic events throughout the seasons of the year, including the very popular Winter Wonderland open house.
